Don't waste your life
- by John Piper

This was one of the books received on my 21st bday from Pbee. and seriously....i was just thinking, people could just go on complaining and whining about their lives--their lives being hopeless, having no meaning, blah blah blah, till the cows come home and their still sitting there....whining.

well well....if this isn't already familiar to many women.....some men even....
bottom line: there's gotta be ACTION in our good intentions. Michael W.Smith wrote this song in the last decade (or isit previous?):

a father lived in silence,
saw his son become a man
there was a distance felt between them
cause he could not understand
that love isn't love till you give it away

we can entertain compassion
for a world in need of care
but the road of good intentions
Doesn't lead to anywhere.....
Cause love isn't love till you give it away.

so....it's not easy. never was, is or will be easy to love like God does so unconditionally. Nor to make something out of our lives which is our gift to God----just some food for thot.

Youth tertiary ReTrEeeaaattT....

Yay.....cough has stopped thus proven that all the phlegm and inflmmation is to LACK of sleep....slept from 4 to 9.30pm after coming home from retreat! Felt that the whole crowd who came had a purpose in coming but there should b more than just 20+ of us stayers-throughout...

i think leadership and discipling and serving in church--come more effectively when we're being ourselves before man, before God. even if you're created simple and struggling with grammar, your leadership COULD still be MORE effective than the articulate.

God QualiFies the Called. He doesn't just call the qualified.
its definitely the WHO you are (the 'being' part) question and not so much the DOing.

The theme of the Vine reiterated what some of us learnt on mission trip to india in 2002 Dec with P.bee. if our lives don't bear fruits, we'd be cut off and thrown away.....not sure in what sense of the word.
Question (asked by benyuan): If it's not about striving/trying hard to bear fruits, how do we don't work hard to BE patient, kind and blah blah?
Ans: 'Abide in Christ' in microsoft Word means 'staying IN Christ'. so....it kinda comes naturally, like the saying, your friends are a mirror of who you are.

the whole funniness of the Candle fight at 1130pm!!! whoa! right in the heart of outram park. 20 screaming 20-over yr olds.....how silly. and the Transformers song.....Joy's robotic dance....one group cheating...(u all think i dunno issit??)

realised that conflict is best discussed over directly AND face to face with the person in question, it's scary and nerve-wrecking to appraoch but when u settle, whoa the results are relieving.

Happening day! *with Gusto*

Ok let's see, I.A. really made me TREASURE staying in hall!! ooh man.......all the peers i just can't get enuff of today at Cross de roads (crossroads, crusade)! haha you guys rock big time man. Haha even the president asked me why i so hyper today.

ok let's see........amidst all the events of today....i just realised how much i miss staying in hall. it's ok at home but the friends made while in hostel........and the familiarity of people around, the stretch of road from hall 2 to hall 5 ....the crusade corner....complaining about school life with CEE friends, lighthearted talk with Eileen, joy and diana, occasional lunch with Sem 1 classmates, or maybe its just that i totally MISS each and every one of the crusaders....will definitely "fight" for the stay in year 4 again......which sem? pray first.....

it's amazing how the Holy Spirit works...
faced two events just recently, two today and one the past 3 weeks where it was definitely God's Holy Spirit just telling me and others stuff. here they are:

1) CHC's Pastor Kong hee's CD on Antinomialism. despite being just a CD, there was FOUR in one case...so decided it must be pretty SERIOUS....and there was the words "cheap grace" there which shocked me. so i listened and the Holy spirit shed a lot of light through it. what i really liked about it is that this speaker doesn't mind ppl scrutinising what he says and invites listeners to 'test the spirit behind what he preaches too'.

2) I bumped into this 40-over yr old man today, who has a daughter my age while at airport doing my job today. guess what happened?!! i wanted to interview ppl on their different jobs there when he told me no time as they all busy. then later he approached me we yakked about my I.A. job under NTU's course. at first didn't know he was a christian......

then he just began to tell me things i didn't realise about myself. and things i didn't tell him about myself ("you must be the elder sibling in your family rite?" "this topic is your passion rite?" "have you been praying about your future career? must find out more about what job you're gonna do." and some other questions.)

believe me i was stunned speechless. later he encouraged me to keep on praying esp. for the career thing when i grad. at the end of the surprisingly God-centred conversation he too agreed it might be this arranged encounter from Daddy up there (God).....nudging us about His watchfulness.

ayah God always do funny things one nowadays....esp. when u do expect Him to. even when you don't expect Him to he will still do funny things one lor. :)

wow. what i've learnt......

relationships un-centred on God can come to an end after all.
and that focussing on people's strengths first builds relationships much faster (adapted from mAtthea's blog)
also one person's focus on the positive-ness in the working place does wonders for everyone else.
